Let It Go

  • My Catamaran was called Let It Go
  • The mesmerizing beauty of the BVI
  • I wrote in my planner letting it go

I set big dreams, have high expectations of myself and others.  I am a true Aries with the need to take action on the visions I have.  As I prepared for my vacation, facing twelve days away from building my dream, I wrote in my planner, “Letting go and trusting God.”

Let it go

My friends and I recently set sail on an epic Catamaran vacation in the British Virgin Islands. You can see all the fun we had by checking out my Instagram REELS.

When we landed in Tortolla, God reminded me I had set my heart on a Caribbean vacation with crystal blue waters, white sand and ocean breezes.  I had journaled about it in the past.  Now God was answering a prayer I had forgotten. I had in fact, let it go.

I thought, “Wow, thank you God!”  I had no idea God was about to WOW me even more.

When we got to the dock to see our home for a week, my heart skipped a beat.  The Catamaran he chose for us was called Let It Go.

As we sailed throughout the BVI I was constantly reminded to let it go.  Let the unmet goals go.  Let the small town politics go.  Let the competition on my new idea go.  Worry is a misuse of the imagination.  Let it go!

So I did.

It’s hard not to when you are living on island time.  No one is in a hurry.  There is no real schedule, just vibes. The crystal blue waters were mesmerizing. I felt it.

What is the hurry?

Reflecting on my respite from life, I will carry island time into my daily life.

I am so incredibly blessed by my rural life. I can offer visitors an experience, in a bit of a different way.

Maybe you don't need a passport to find your island time.

Maybe you just need to slow down long enough to hear what God is trying to tell you.

Come to the country. Trade the traffic for a two-lane road. The packed schedule for a slower morning. The noise for a porch, a pasture, a glass of wine, or a walk through a small town where people still wave when you drive by.

Come for the antiques, the food, the wine, the wide-open spaces and the little moments you didn't know you needed.

But mostly, come to let it go.

Let go of the expectations. Let go of the hurry. Let go of the things you can't control. Let go of the worry.

And trust that sometimes the best things happen when you stop trying so hard to make them happen.

My catamaran was named Let It Go.

Maybe your respite from life can be a weekend in the country.

Come slow down. Come breathe. Come wander.

Come find your own little piece of island time—right here in the country.

Let it go. You might just discover what you've been praying for was waiting for you all along.
